After Thanksgiving Detox

First I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! I had a good one. I got the chance to relax a bit and handle a few things as well so that’s always a plus for me.

With the Thanksgiving holiday over it is now time for me to do a detox. I actually did a detox this time last year, my usual juice detox. This time I am detoxing with food. But here is my problem, I told myself I would take the past weekend to figure out which detox I wanted to do, the Dukan or the Next Day (for info on both of those click my diet or detox links), but I didn’t, so now here I am. I think I am going to design my own and see how that goes, something that is a mix of the two. But so far I am doing well. I know what I cannot have while on both I just know they both have different things you CAN have. That’s where I am at a loss. Most detox plans you cannot have ANY dairy but on the Next Day you can have yogurt. Also, the Next Day limits your fruits to twice a day before 2pm. If I do decide to design my own plan I will keep you informed of what I did and how it worked out for me.
During this flush I will also be drinking an all natural detoxing tea on a daily basis. It is all natural and it flushes your liver and kidneys. You can drink this during the day it won’t give you the runs. If anything your will have to urinate more often which is a good thing.

So this morning I took the time to make a smoothie. It consisted of flaxseed, whey protein, frozen strawberries & mangos & a banana, as well as some water. I filled my smoothie cup then gave the remainder to my kids.
I will continue to keep track of my foods on My Fitness Pal so if you want to be my fitness pal I am under username ShaniNicole. Download it to your phone.

Detoxing cleanses your body of toxins and helps you establish healthier eating habits and revs up your metabolism. It also rids your bloodstream of sugar to prevent insulin spikes that can foster fat storage. Another benefit is the release of parasites from your digestive system.
Always perform a system flush before starting a detox or changing your eating habits (i.e. if you stop eating pork or beef); to rid your body of all waste and cleanse your colon, kidneys and liver. I always recommend the sea salt flush, which you can find in my links as well. Before you flush I recommend an all natural laxative tea, the night before, which can be found at any health food store. I made the mistake of skipping that step Saturday. Needless to say I have to flush again,  my system is so backed up that the flush didn’t take and this is the 1st time. So I am so upset with myself. Plus I only drank half the water. Yeah yeah I know…

Lastly, I love sugar; I have it all day in my tea. That will be my biggest challenge. I’ve cut it out before and I am hoping to one day cut it down to 10% of what I usually take in maybe even 5%. It is my drug of choice. So I will be going through withdrawals for the next few days. So wish me luck!!
