Alpha Reset - My 5 Day Detox

I mentioned in my previous post that I did the Alpha Reset for my end of summer system detox. I’ve been into juice detoxing for three years now and my first juice detox was August 2010. Back in 2006 I bought a juicer from the thrift store and I had no idea about juicing, I just bought it because I wanted to make some homemade juice. Well it didn’t come with a plunger so juicing with it just wasn’t that fun and at some point I got rid of that juicer.

Over the years I would watch the Jack LaLanne infomercials and I really wanted a Jack LaLanne  Power Juicer but just would never take the plunge and order one. Even though I’ve been juice fasting over the years I never really got into “juicing” and making my own juice but over the past few months I’ve been doing a lot of research and reading on juicing and the benefits of it. I decided to start looking into juicers, I knew the end of summer would be detox time and with me having surgery and being off for almost two weeks unable to work out it was going to be the perfect time to detox,  so I wanted to get ready and I wanted to make my own juice this time especially after the whole Naked Juice fiasco; finding out that the so-called all natural juice I’ve been using to detox with all these years is not so natural is quite disappointing but all the more reason to make my own foods and juices from scratch.

I was driving myself crazy looking at reviews for the right juicer, I did this for months trying to choose between a centrifugal or masticating juicer for the best price, that would juice both leafy greens and fruits, leaving a dryer pulp.  I was off and on Amazon and even had a juicer in my basket ready to go but I just wasn’t sure. Eventually my time was up and I was still at a loss wondering what I was going to do. Then it hit me, I was reading up on the Alpha Reset and in Drew Canole’s book Juice Up Your Life he dedicates it to Jack LaLanne, then in some of his earlier videos I notice he is using the Jack LaLanne juicer, at that point I decided that I would finally purchase that Jack LaLanne I’ve always wanted and the fact that Walmart now carries them was the icing on the cake.

I won’t go into juicing benefits with this post but I have quite a few posts on the juice detox on this blog. This post is about my experience with the Alpha Reset Detox and why I chose it.

I’ve been following Juicing Vegetables on Facebook for over a year now and I follow quite a few other pages on juicing, eating raw and vegan/vegetarian eating.  Alpha Reset was designed by Drew Canole to reset the body’s digestive system. You can eat all the right foods but it makes no difference if your body isn’t digesting them because your body is unable to absorb the nutrients due to the body’s inability to digest the food properly.

What I like about the Alpha Reset is that its only 5 days, 3 days of strictly juice and water, day 4 you can have egg whites for breakfast and dinner and day 5 you can have egg whites for breakfast and  white fish or chicken for dinner. After that you can go into his diet plan or your own healthy meal plan.  Since I already have a healthy meal plan that I follow that has been proven to work for me I will be sticking to that, but with a twist, since I’ve decided to introduce juicing into my life I will be juicing in place of some of my meals, what I cook for dinner will be my lunch and my dinner will be a fruit and vegetable juice then I will have a protein smoothie after my workout. I will also have a smoothie for breakfast and juice for my snacks. This will make it easier for me to get in all of my veggies and fruits daily and keep me from eating late due to my workout schedule.

Lately I’ve found it hard to run with food on my stomach but if I wait until after my run I end up eating too late. So this way should make it a lot better, I just have to make sure I get in enough of my daily calories and nutrients.

Overall, the Alpha Reset worked for me and yes I lost weight and inches around my mid-section but that comes with any juice fast. I am going to attempt to do this until the end of the year, I pray that I can stay focused enough where I feel healthy, that is my ultimate goal, I had been feeling really heavy lately and its time I get things in order.

And…It Is What It Is!
